Exploring Film
with Lucy Wheeler
Enjoy the pleasure of watching and discussing a range of films by exploring different styles, genres and directors. Learn critical analysis skills in order to understand how narrative, mise-en-scene and cinematography can be used to create meaning and tell stories. Discuss the ways in which film can be used to explore cultural issues and
attitudes. Supportive and friendly tuition with all abilities welcome. No experience necessary, just a desire to talk about movies!
Session on 4 November will be based on ‘Little Women’ directed by Greta Gerwig.
About the tutor:
Lucy Wheeler is a qualified secondary English teacher with over a decade’s experience of classroom teaching and a passion for film and the arts. Having formerly held roles as Second in Department and A Level English Co-ordinator at a prestigious West London girls’ independent school, Lucy has extensive experience of teaching a range of ages and levels.
