Our Garden Development Project
As a charity, Bedford House is always fundraising. Our biggest goal is to transform our garden into the amazing resource it has the potential to be. Our plan is entirely accessible, meaning so many more people will have easy access to Bedford House. The garden will be multi-sensory, with wildflowers, a water feature. vegetable planting beds, a fruit orchard, an outdoor classroom with scientific equipment and more. Check out our concept, designed by Groundwork, for all the details below.
Our Garden Journey so far…
February 2022 - The Garden Development Project is agreed in principle by the Board of Trustees.
April 2022 - The first £1,800 are raised which enabled us to commission the concept garden design from Groundwork.org.uk. Groundwork.org has been developing green spaces nationally for many years and are experienced in this kind of project.
June 2022 - £2,000 is raised to landscape and re-plant the front garden.
July 2022 - The concept garden design for the rear garden was launched at the Summer Show.
August 2022 - The Board approved the requirement to obtain agreement and authorisations from various authorities to pursue the formal design for the rear garden.
September 2022 - Funds are being raised for the garden re-set; the prep work required to enable further work. This entails bramble removal, removing dangerous tree overhang, dead branches, shaving ivy off fences, replacing missing and damaged fence panels. This will also create a lawn approximately double the size of the current lawn. £8000 is required. Various fundraising initiatives each month.
Autumn 2022 - Various grant applications planned.
